ROME: Italian champions Milan have asked the Italian federation to bring together a group of cardiac specialists to analyse the current health and potential of Azzurri forward Antonio Cassano writes KEIR RADNEDGE.

The former  Bari, Ronma, Real Madid and Samodoria forward was admitted to hospital last Octobr 29 after being taken ill on a flight back to Milan from Rome after a Serie A game. At first it was feared he had suffered a minor strke but, after tests, he underwent surgery six days later to correct a minor heart defect.

Cassano started rehabilitative training in January and returned to full training sessions with his team-mates last Thursday. Milan want the Italian federation to bring together a panel of rexperts to assess his potential to return to top-level action.

The 29-year-old had been outstanding in Italy’s qualifying campaign to reach the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine.
