PARIS: Gerard Enault, long-time senior administrator within the French football federation, has died at the age of 68.
Enault was director-general of the FFF between 1993 and 2005, the most glorious era in the history of the French game with Les Bleus’ victories in the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship. Earlier Enault had been a director in the Ministry of Youth and Sport.
His latter years at the FFF were marred by a string of financial misjudgments by the federation in terms of promotional and managerial contracts.
