KEIR RADNEDGE REPORTS: Chuck Blazer has confirmed he is following up his departure from CONCACAF by quitting the FIFA executive committee later this spring.

This was the logical next step for the 67-year-old New Yorker who quit as general secretary of the Central and North American Confederation last December following the palace revolution he sparked by blowing the whistle on then-president Jack Warner in 2011.

A short overnight announcement stated that: “Chuck Blazer, member of FIFA’ executive committee since 1997, has announced that he has not sought nomination for a fifth term.

“On May 30 Blazer will conclude his fourth term on FIFA’s executive body. Nominations are due to be received by CONCACAF’s secretariat, next week, 60 days in advance of the April 19 congress to be held in Panama City, Panama.”

Blazer said: “It is time for new faces with new energy to take over the responsibility of FIFA’s leadership.”
