BARCELONA: Leo Messi claimed another record – that of scoring consecutively against team in La Liga – as Barcelona took a 2-2 draw against Celtic Vigo in the Spanish championship.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid, who drew 1-1 at Zaragoza, were distracted against relegation-fearing rivals by their imminent Champions League concerns.

A weakened Barca were held in Vigo when Borja Oubina headed an 88th-minute equaliser that left the leaders 13 points clear on 75 points with nine games left.

Messi set up Barcelona’s first goal, an equaliser for Cristian Tello, then scored in his 19th consecutive league match. Argentina’s World Player of the Year thus took his tally for the season to 43 goals .

Champions Madrid also came from behind thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo as they drew 1-1 at Zaragoza to reach 62 points.

In France Saint-Etienne missed a chance to overtake Marseille and go third as they were held 2-2 away to struggling Troyes.

In Holland third-placed Feyenoord’s title hopes were upset after they conceded two goals in the last five minutes to lose 2-0 away to mid-table Heerenveen. Alfred Finnbogason and Yassine El Ghanassy scroed the goals which left Feyenoord one point behind leaders Ajax Amsterdam who host NEC Nijmegen.

In Italy Juventus moved closer to a second successive Serie A title after winning 2-1 in a thrilling “Derby of Italy” at Internazionale while Edinson Cavani came off the bench to inspire Napoli to a thrilling 5-3 win at Torino.

A superb long-range Fabio Quagliarella strike after three minutes and a tap in from Alessandro Matri on the hour were just enough for Juve to beat a determined Inter, who briefly levelled the scores on 54 minutes through Rodrigo Palacio.

Second-place Napoli maintained their feint title hopes thanks to two goals from Cavani and an exceptional Blerim Dzemaili hat-trick.
