VALENCIA: Alfredo Di Stefano, Real Madrid’s honorary president, has been discharged from hospital in the Spanish capital after three days treatment for a long-standing heart complaint.

Di Stefano, arguably the greatest footballer of all time, was ready for reporters’ questions on his way out of the Hospital La Fe in Valencia.

Asked about the Champions League semi-final draw matching Madrid against Borussia Dortmund, Di Stefano said that at this of the competition no opponent was preferable to another.

He was then asked his opinion about the future of coach Jose Mourinho who has been thought to be considering a summer departure, Di Stefano said: “Hopefully, he will stay here.”

Argentina-born Di Stefano, 86, inspired Real Madrid to victory in the first five European Champions Cup competitions between 1956 and 1960 and scored in each final.
