MADRID: Real Madrid are considering selling their naming rights for the Santiago Bernabeu to Microsoft, according to the company’s Spanish president.

The 85,00-seater stadium was inaugurated in 1947 and was named after former Blancos president Santiago Bernabeu Yeste.

And now Maria Garana, the president of the software giant’s Spanish operation, has confirmed they are in the running.

“We have an excellent relationship with Real Madrid and in fact we recently signed an agreement with its foundation,” she told Spanish television channel antena 3.

“They’ve raised, as have other companies, renaming the stadium and we’re only talking about this possibility.”

The La Liga club’s president Florentino Perez stated last month that he was looking to get a sponsor for the stadium which is set to undergo a major renovation.
