LONDON: Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and member of the FIFA Executive Committee, is set to speak at the Leaders Sport Business Summit at Stamford Bridge, which will be held from 8-9 October 2014.

 

The 10th President of the AFC, elected in 2013 by a resounding majority in the AFC Extraordinary Congress, Shaikh Salman joins those speakers already confirmed which include Jeffrey Webb, President, CONCACAF; Christian Seifert, CEO, German Bundesliga; Erick Thohir, Owner and President, FC Internazionale Milano; Dave Coplin, Chief Envisioning Officer at Microsoft; Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Chairman of the European Club Association; and Russell Wolff, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, ESPN International.

 

Shaikh Salman is Chairman of FIFA’s Organising Committee for the Olympic Football Tournaments and member of the Organising Committee for the FIFA World Cup™, Bureau 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, FIFA Marketing & TV Committee, FIFA Finance Committee and FIFA Strategic Committee. He has also served on the AFC and FIFA Disciplinary Committees and officiated at numerous major international tournaments.

 

Committed to reinvigorating the solidarity of the Asian football community whilst safeguarding and promoting the game, Shaikh Salman will talk about the future of football in Asia, including the forthcoming AFC Asian Cup in Australia, the continued development of the AFC Champions League and other AFC tournaments, the importance of strengthening the foundation of football development including social responsibility as well as the challenges and opportunities of governing the world’s most populous football region.
