MARRAKECH: Morocco, whose government is reluctant to host the African Nations Cup because of ebola, is at least looking ahead to the FIFA Club World Cup in December.

The shape of the tournament is opening up after the formal draw.

The quarter-finals will see the winners of the CAF Champions League final [AS Vita Club (Congo DR) v ES Setif (Alg)] face the winners of Matchday 1 between Moghreb Athletic de Tetouan (Morocco) and Auckland City (NZ).

The winners will then play Argentina’s San Lorenzo in the semi-finals.

The other quarter-final will see CONCACAF Champions League winners Cruz Azul (Mex) play the winners of the AFC Champions League final between Western Sydney Wanderers (Aus) and Al Hilal (S Arabia).

These winner face Champions League holders Real Madrid in the semi-finals.

Mohamed Ouzzine, Morocco’s Minister for Youth Affairs and Sport, expressed Morocco’s delight at hosting the tournament for a second consecutive time. FIFA exco member Hany Abo Rida acknowledged the success of Morocco 2013 and expressed his confidence in another successful tournament.

The draw was conducted by Mustapha Fahmy and Oliver Vogt of FIFA, who drew the teams from one bowl and their position in the draw from another.
