MILAN: Milan have signed a new five-year sponsorship deal with Emirates Airline that could be worth as much as $125m.

The renewal sees the Dubai-based airline’s logo remain on the Italian side’s shirts and training kits until the end of the 2019-20 season, while the new deal also includes branding around Milan’s San Siro Stadium, sponsorship of the club’s youth team and additional marketing rights.

The $125m would represent a 40pc increase on the current $14.6m-a-year deal between the two sides.

Milan are one of a number of top European soccer clubs sponsored by Emirates, alongside the likes of Arsenal, PSG, Real Madrid, Hamburg and Olympiacos though the airline recebntly decided not to renew its World Cup sponsorship with FIFA.

Emirates chairman Sir Tim Clark: “As the most awarded football club in the world, AC Milan’s strong global appeal and ambitious approach to the game closely mirrors our own, making them an incredibly valuable partner for our brand.

“A global fanbase, a commitment to quality and the ability to connect people are just a few shared values that have helped to make this partnership so successful over the last seven years.”

Clark attended a ceremony at Milan’s headquarters on Monday to confirm the renewal. Also in attendance was Barbara Berlusconi, the club’s vice president and chief executive.

“This is an important day for AC Milan, the city of Milan, but also for Italy,” said Berlusconi.

Milan are due to fly to Dubai later this month for a friendly against Emirates-sponsored Real Madrid. The match, known as the Dubai Football Challenge, takes place on 30 December.
