PARIS: Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been suspended for four French league matches for the bad-tempered, anti-France rant which was captured live on TV.

The Sweden striker lost his temper, criticised match officials then rage at France in general after Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-2 loss at Bordeaux last month.

Ibrahimovic, who apologised later, will miss four of PSG’s seven remaining league games. A disciplinary panel said his punishment reflected “the offensive nature and rudeness of his words”.

Ibrahimovic, 33, is also banned for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona after a red card against Chelsea in the last round. He can play in Saturday’s League Cup final against Bastia.

PSG are in contention to win four trophies this season.
