MUNICHSaudi Arabia’s Abdulaziz Alshehri became the FIFA Interactive World Cup world champion at the grand final in Munich.

Abdulaziz Alshehri beat France’s Julien Dassonville 3-0 and received a cheque for $20,000 and a once in a lifetime invitation to attend the FIFA Ballon d’Or, FIFA’s annual awards ceremony is attended by some of the world’s best footballers.

He said: “This has been an amazing experience for me, to come to Munich and to compete against so many amazing players from around the world. To hold the title of FIWC winner is something really special, a dream for me and tonight my dream has become a reality.”

FIFA’s head of brand and marketing communication David Fowler said: “I would like to give my personal congratulations to  Abdulaziz Alshehri for claiming his place as the FIFA Interactive World Cup Champion of 2015.

“It is an amazing achievement over more than 1 million players who registered for the game, and there couldn’t be a more fitting location than here in Munich, Germany – the home of the FIFA World Cup champions.

“Throughout this year’s tournament, Abdulaziz Alshehri as  well as his fellow competitors have demonstrated extraordinary skill and expertise in the game and I am excited to see how all these players develop into next year’s competition.”
