ZURICH/TOKYO: The Osaka Nagai stadium will host the FIFA Club World Cup Final for the first time after being named as one of two venues for Japan 2015.

The stadium hosted three matches at the 2002 World Cup.

This year’s Club World Cup takes place from December 10 to 20 with matches also being hosted in the International Stadium Yokohama which hosted the final matches from 2005 to 2008 as well as 2011 and 2012.

Osaka Nagai will host two quarter-finals on December 13, the match for fifth place on December 16 and a semi-final on the same day.

Until recently the stadium had been home to J.2 League side Cerezo Osaka whose best-known player is Uruguay’s 2010 World Cup golden ball winner Diego Forlan.

Auckland City (OFC) and Club America (CONCACAF) were the first two teams to have secured their berths to this year’s Club World Cup.
