KEIR RADNEDGE in ZURICH:  Seven people, including FIFA vice-president Jeffrey Webb, were arrested early today at the Baur au Lac hotel in Zurich in the latest unravelling FIFA-linked scandal.

The seven were believed to be among 14 men named as facing corruption charges from the US Justice Department.

The 14 are:

FIFA vice-president Jeffrey Webb, FIFA executive committee member Eugenio Figueredo (Uruguay), former FIFA vice-president Jack Warner (Trinidad), incoming FIFA exco member Eduardo Li (Costa Rica), Julio Rocha (Nicaragua), Costas Takkas (former general secretary of the Cayman Islands FA), Rafael Esquivel (FIFA disciplinary committee member and president of the Venezuela FA), José Maria Marin (former president of the Brazilian football confederation) and Nicolás Leoz (former president of the Paraguayan and South American federation and former FIFA exco member).

Charges were also expected against the sports marketing executives Alejandro Burzaco, Aaron Davidson (president of the North American Soccer League and Traffic Sports USA which owns Carolina RailHawks), Hugo Jinkis and Mariano Jinkis. Authorities also want to charge José Margulies as an intermediary facilitating illegal payments.
