BARCELONA: Newly re-crowned European champions Barcelona have reached agreement for Qatar Airways to remain as principal sponsor until 2020.
This follows confirmation that coach Luis Enrique, having won the treble in his first first season, will also be staying in place.
Club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has been preparing to finalise the Qatar Airways extension before tendering his resignation ahead of standing for re-election next month.
The agreement cannot be ratified officially until after those elections, because the deal involves a break-clause that would allow the new president to negotiate with other sponsors. It is expected however that the deal will remain in place whether or not Bartomeu wins the election.
Barcelona are currently celebrating a historic second treble in six years, having won the Champions League final at the weekend to add to their Spanish league and cup successes.
