BRUSSELS: Two Belgian league games were postponed at short notice as the government and security services took no chances a week after Brussels was identified as a centre for terrorist action
A week after the attacks on Paris and four days after the cancellation of friendly national team matches in Brussels and Hannover, the Belgian federation called off games today and tomorrow/Sunday.
On Saturday, Lokeren’s home game against third-placed Anderlecht and then the Mouscron v Charleroi were called off with the country on the highest possible terror alert.
The metro in Brussels was also shut down and security was stepped up at the main offices of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
