KEIR RADNEDGE REPORTING: The FIFA ethics chamber has announced punitive pursuit of Jeff Webb, Sepp Blatter, Jerome Valcke and Markus Kattner is the effort to tidy up the not-so-dim and not-so-distant past.

The one uncertainty which hovers over some of the action is the extent to which proceedings can be enacted by a civil organisation over men such as Blatter, Valcke and Webb who have already been expelled from the game and, hence, one assumes from responsibility under its disciplinary committee.

More than a decade ago Michel Zen Ruffinen, having been sacked by FIFA over the 2002 accounting revolt, was declared ‘persona non grata’ which appears a more formally logical state of affairs.
