LONDON: Magnificent Andy Murray saw off Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-4 in the ATP Masters final in London to finish also as year-end world No1.

Murray was thought to be a slight outsider because of the effort expended in beating Milos Raonic in a tough three-set semi-final while Djokovic had swept esily past Kei Nishikori in less than an hour.

This was the first time the battle for the top spot had been fought in the final match of the season.
