LONDON: Carli Lloyd has become the latest top United States woman player to sign for a European club — in her case Manchester City of the FA Women’s Super League writes KEIR RADNEDGE.

Lloyd, hailed for a second time last month as world federation FIFA’s Woman Player of the Year, will thus follow the lead set by Alex Morgan (Lyon), Crystal Dunn (Chelsea) and Heather O’Reilly (Arsenal).

The 34-year-old would return to the NWSL’s Houston Dash after the end of City’s season. This could be June 1 if they reaches the final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Lloyd played only seven game for Houston last season because of recurrent knee problems. She has scored 96 goals in 232 appearances for the US.
