MADRID: The Spanish league has announced record levels of revenue of more than €3bn, up 15pc on the previous year.

LaLiga’s financial report declared revenues of €3.034bn as a result of revampeing the management of TV rights tp embrace the European Commission-ordered concept of centralised marketing.

According to the report, broadcasting revenues increased by €270.7m, a 30pc rise compared with the previous season, to reach €1.125bn.

La Liga president Javier Tebas said it would take a few more seasons for the changes to really make an impact on the league’s poorer clubs.

He added: “The report points to an increase in revenue, improved performance and a reduction of debt, and confirms that the restructuring process in Spanish football has been brought to fruition.”
