July 17 2017, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan: The 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games Executive Committee is excited to announce that Turkmenistan Airlines is the first national brand to join Ashgabat 2017 as an Official Partner.


Turkmenistan Airlines is the flag carrier airline of Turkmenistan, headquartered in Ashgabat. It operates domestic and international passenger and cargo services mainly from its hub at Ashgabat International Airport.


The Chairman of the 5th AIMAG Executive Committee, Dayanch Gulgeldiyev, said: “It is fantastic to have one of the biggest brands in the country become a partner of Ashgabat 2017. Turkmenistan Airlines will play a big role in the Games, by providing international transport services and showcasing the warm Turkmen hospitality before our guests event touch down in the country.”


Turkmenistan Airlines are not only supporting the Games as a sponsor but are also involved with the arrivals and departures operations into Ashgabat Airport for the 5th AIMAG in September. Joint planning has been taking place over the last year for the arrival of over 8000 Ashgabat 2017 athletes and guests. During the Inspiring Ashgabat tests event series, Games time airport processes were successfully tested, including the operation of Ashgabat 2017 FastTrack lanes for immigration and customs procedures, and an exclusive arrivals hall for all Ashgabat 2017 accredited guests.

The Ashgabat 2017 5th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games are the fifth edition of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, and will take place in Turkmenistan from 17–27 September 2017.


There will be 21 sports at Ashgabat 2017 across 15 venues over 12 days of competition. The 21 sports are 3×3 Basketball, Belt Wrestling, Billiard Sports, Bowling, Chess, DanceSport, Equestrian Jumping, Futsal, Indoor Athletics, Indoor Tennis, Ju-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Kurash, Muay, Sambo, Short Course Swimming, Taekwondo, Track Cycling Traditional Wrestling, Weightlifting and Wrestling.


Ashgabat was awarded the Games by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in 2010. The 5th AIMAG Executive Committee will organise and run the Games in cooperation with the OCA.
