PARIS: Kylian Mbappe Iis waiting only on the outcome of his medical to be abvle to complete his controversial move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The transfer seemed imminent after the clubs reportedly reached an agreement on Sunday. Leaked pictures on Monday morning then saw striker Stevan Jovetic, set to join Monaco from Inter Milan, pictured in the number 10 shirt which had been assigned to Mbappe for this season.

It had been reported that Mbappe could be unveiled on Monday, but with the teenager currently on international duty with France, and national coach Didier Deschamps not prepared to allow players to leave the camp to negotiate transfers, PSG will instead have to send representatives to the national academy at Clairefontaine.

Deschamps said on Monday that it was “bad information” to say Mbappe would have his medical before the day was out.

In his press conference, broadcast on lequipe.fr, Deschamps added: “Nothing changes, they are here and they will stay here. The window closes on the 31st, we have a match on Thursday so they will stay here and they are concentrating on that, the 24 (players) who are here.”

Asked if players could undergo medicals while inside the camp, he added: “If it comes to it, why not?”

Mbappe arrived along with his team-mates on Monday and, in a video interview on the French Football Federation’s official website, he said: “I feel good.

“We have two important matches and I will give my all to help the team win and work towards qualification. That’s the most important thing. We have to win. We will prepare calmly and be ready when the match comes around.”

Deschamps added: “He knows he is here for the France team. His morale is good. He is coming off an extraordinary six months with Monaco.”

PSG have already parted with 222 million euros (£200.6million) to sign Neymar from Barcelona, and the capture of Mbappe, whose 15 goals played a key role in Monaco winning Ligue 1 ahead of them last season, could have a significant bearing on the destination of this season’s title.

The 18-year-old, who also scored six goals in as many games in the Champions League knockout stages, was previously linked with Real Madrid as well as several Premier League clubs but appears to have chosen to remain in Ligue 1.

Deschamps continued: “You cannot complain about him staying in France. Others have left very early, like (Paul) Pogba, (Kingsley) Coman and (Anthony) Martial. (Ousmane) Dembele made no mistake in going to Dortmund after one season with Rennes, he is now at Barcelona.

“Kylian analysed the situation and decided he was not ready to move abroad. It is good that he is staying in France.”
