MILAN: Robinho, the former Brazil, Manchester City and Real Madrid forward has been sentenced in Milan to nine years in prison in his absence for sexual assault.
Robinho sentenced to nine years in jail in Italy for sexual assault
The 33-year-old was found guilty of assaulting a 22-year-old woman along with five other men at a disco in Milan in 2013, when he played for AC Milan.
Robinho, whose full name is Robson de Souza, is currently in Brazil, where he plays for Atletico Mineiro. He had denied the charges, has a right of two appeals and cannot extradited while he remains in Brazil.

He played more than 40 games for Manchester City – who snatched him from the grasp of Chelsea – between 2008 and 2010 after signing from Real Madrid for £32.5m, making him the most expensive player in British football at the time.
