LONDON: Manchester City have completed their long-running pursuit of Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez as he signed from Leicester City for a club-record fee of £60m.

The 27-year-old has been a long-term target for City and moves to the Premier League champions on a five-year-deal for what Leicester say is a club record fee.

City had looked poised to sign Mahrez back in January only for Leicester to stand firm, and after multiple rejected bids eventually the deal fell through.

Mahrez  who scored 13 goals for the Foxes last season, said: “I am so pleased to have joined City, a side playing great football under Pep Guardiola. They’re redefining the English game and I wanted to be a part of it.”
