—- European giants Real Madrid and Bayern Munich both lost again on Saturday as their respective wretched runs of form continued and raised questions about the futures of respective coaches Julen Lopetegui and Nico Kovac.

German champions Bayern lost 3-0 to Borussia Monchengladbach at home while world and European champions Real Madrid suffered a shock late 1-0 win at Alaves.

Bayern have suffered back-to-back defeats in the Bundesliga following on from a 1-1 draw at Augsburg with a 1-1 Champions League draw against Ajax thrown in for good measure.

A 2-0 defeat at Hertha Berlin last week was a surprise, but this 3-0 defeat by Borussia Monchengladbach, at home, is the worst of the lot.

For Real Madrid the situation is even worse as they’ve now lost three out of their last four matches in all competitions without even scoring a goal.

A 3-0 defeat at Sevilla was followed by a goalless draw in the Madrid derby at Atletico and a 1-0 Champions League reverse at CSKA Moscow before Saturday’s defeat at Alaves – with all four results coming away from home.

Real’s home form means they remain joint top of La Liga with Barcelona, and Saturday’s opponents Alaves despite picking up just one point from their last three games but the pressure is certainly building on new boss Julen Lopetegui.

New Bayern boss Niko Kovac is now under increasing pressure as his side slipped down to fifth place in the Bundesliga.
