PARIS: Joachim Low’s reign as manager of deposed world champions Germany became increasingly fragile after their 2-1 defeat away to France in the UEFA Nations League.

Antoine Griezmann scored twice in the second half as the 2018 World Cup winners came from behind to leave the Germans in danger of relegation from League A, Group 1.

Low’s men produced the essential immediate response to Saturday’s 3-0 defeat in Holland when Toni Kroos converted a penalty shortly before the break after Leroy Sane’s cross was handled by Pascal Kimpembe.

However Les Bleus equalised through a Griezmann header just after the hour and he converted a controversial penalty with 10 minutes left. Mats Hummels had been adjudged to have bundled over Blaise Matuidi

A sixth defeat in 10 games left Germany with only one point from three matches. By contrast France look set to progress as winners of Group One, now they are four points clear of Holland.
