LONDON: Manager Mauricio Pochettino has been banned from the touchline for two matches and fined £10,000 by the Football Association for confronting referee Mike Dean after Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat at Burnley.

The Argentinian will serve his first such English football ban in the Premier League games against former club Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday and at Liverpool on March 31.

Pochettino, 46, has admitted he “crossed the line” with Dean and later issued a public apology for his behaviour before accepting an FA charge of improper conduct.

“It is not the way to behave,” he said following the incident.

Dean was later moved from his fourth official duties for Spurs’ game at Chelsea the following week.

Pochettino had been particularly upset about the award of a corner in the build-up to Burnley’s opening goal.
