BARCELONA/PARIS: Barcelona have emerged as favourites to help Neymar end his self-inflicted Parisian nightmare.

Officials from the Spanish champions have flown to the French capital for talks with Paris Saint-Germain.

The 27-year-old’s future in Paris has been uncertain all summer after disciplinary and tax problems both in France and Brazil and he has three weeks to find a happier home before the close of the continental European transfer window.

PSG are unlikely to sanction a sale unless they are able to recoup the £200m they paid Barcelona in 2017 for Neymar whose father and agent has been discussing transfer options ever since before the end of last season.

The Brazil superstar did not feature in PSG’s opening-day league win against Nimes on Sunday.

Real Madrid have also held talks. They were the first club to invite the young teenaged Neymar for a trial 15 years ago.

Neymar enjoyed four trophy-laden years in Spain with Barca, winning two league titles, a Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup. Next he won back-to-back French league titles with PSG, scoring 51 goals in 56 appearances.
