MONTREAL: The possibility of a further Olympic Games ban for Russia is looming after an apparently unsatisfactory response to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s investigation into the long-running cover-up scandal.

WADA’s executive committee meets on December 9 in Paris or London with an agenda item to review ongoing proceedings against the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).

A first step was taken on Sunday with a meeting of experts from WADA’s compliance review committee whose members will “submit an official recommendation” to the exco.

The likelihood of a ‘clean’ Russian return to the Olympic arena is clouded by revelations in September of inconsistencies in the electronic data extracted from the Moscow laboratory.
