ROME: Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest scoring extravaganza extended to 10 Serie A games in a row but he finished on the losing side as Juventus wasted the lead he provided and lost 2-1 to Verona.

Ronaldo’s goal came in the 65th minute but the former Liverpool and Sunderland striker Fabio Borini equalised 11 minutes later, before Giampaolo Pazzini kept his cool to convert a late penalty and win the game.

Atalanta came from behind to win 2-1 at Fiorentina , ending a 27-year hoodoo. Duván Zapata and Ruslan Malinovskiy scored in the second half after Federico Chiesa’s opener. It was Atalanta’s first Serie A victory at Fiorentina since 1993. They moved three points above fifth-placed Roma before the two face each other next weekend.

In Spain . . .

Veteran Jorge Molina scored twice to lead Getafe to a dominant 3-0 victory over Valencia , strengthening the club’s hold on third place in LaLiga.

Getafe’s suffocating defence nullified Valencia, who pipped them to fourth spot last year, before Molina opened the scoring in the 58th minute.

The 37-year-old then put the result beyond doubt with a brilliant solo effort. He surged past one defender and wrong‑footed the remaining two before firing home. Valencia played with 10 men for the final 12 minutes after Alessandro Florenzi was sent off for cutting down Marc Cucurella, before Jaime Mata completed the scoring late on.
