London: BOLT, the world’s first blockchain-based interactive media
platform, has today announced that former Manchester United, Sunderland, Blackburn
Rovers, Kerala Blasters and England international star Wes Brown will take up a Global
Ambassador role.
Part of the treble-winning Manchester United squad, the UEFA Champions League winning
defender, who made over 360 appearances for the Red Devils between 1997-2011 before
moving to the North East with Sunderland, will feature in BOLT's interactive media platform
BOLT+, offering his insight and expert opinion on the English Premier League and the up-
and-coming Euro 2020 tournament. He will also assist with the onboarding of football
content talent and future ambassadors.
Brown’s appointment as Global Ambassador follows BOLT+’s recent launch of the high-
profile football prediction gamification feature called ‘Stake’ and marks the global platform’s
latest endeavour to engage with football fans around the world.
BOLT was founded with a mission to bring the power of information to all. By utilising the
blockchain, offering a digital token, its own proprietary wallet and leveraging low-bandwidth
streaming, BOLT has been able to open up the power of information to all through its
interactive live content, sports entertainment and educational content. BOLT+ streams a
plethora of sports and educational content, including 3D highlights of the English Premier
League, original productions of game week previews, interviews and quizzes.
Speaking on his appointment as Global Ambassador, Wes Brown said: “I am delighted to
come on board BOLT+ in an ambassadorship capacity and look forward to joining their
journey to open up access to football around the world. As a player, you really come to
appreciate the support from fans in every corner of the globe, so BOLT’s mission to provide
content to emerging markets was certainly something that drew me closer to the platform.”

Brown, who made over 490 professional appearances for club and country before retiring in
2018 following a stint with Indian Premier League side Kerela Blasters, added: “Football has
the power to empower, educate and entertain – to open up access to loyal fan bases in
countries where mobile data and technology is harder to come by is really exciting.”
Jamal Hassim the CEO and Founder of BOLT Global said: “We are privileged to welcome
Wes onboard as BOLT’s global football brand ambassador. Wes has won every major
England and European football team honour and was a member of the treble-winning
Manchester United team that has yet been surpassed. BOLT shares Wes’ values as a
champion with integrity and humility, and we look forward to setting new records in our
space. Wes will help us create greater awareness for the BOLT Service and Token to the
global football-loving community."
BOLT+ has been increasingly focusing on high octane sports over the past year, including
streaming highlights from the 2019 Rugby World Cup and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
The BOLT+ platform streams over 131 Live TV and 114 Live Radio channels including
Bloomberg, CNBC, BBC News, CNN, CGTN, Channel News Asia, Deutsche Welle, France
24 and Russia Today.

About BOLT
BOLT is an interactive media platform that converts users' media experiences into monetary value. BOLT has
two applications, BOLT+ and Pegasus. BOLT+ is an interactive media platform, with a focus on sports and
educational content. There are also 100 live TV stations and 90 live radio stations on the platform. Pegasus is a
gateway converting users' media experiences into monetary value. Pegasus is built on the blockchain and
houses our own BOLT Token, which has clocked over 200,000 payment transactions in 2019. BOLT+ and
Pegasus are available on iOS, Android and the web.
In 2019, BOLT reached over 11 million users in over 200 countries, and streamed tentpole events including the
Cricket World Cup and Rugby World Cup. BOLT is currently operational across four countries – the UK,
Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa, with a staff strength of 40 people.
BOLT's founders combined their strengths across broadcast media, digital strategy and blockchain. Jamal
successfully started and exited traditional media ventures in TV and radio, while Christel was previously head of
content for Twitter and head of Social Business at Samsung. She was named as Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2019.
How do we do it
We develop interactive formats for users to engage on BOLT+ such as our game show 'Lightning Round', match
prediction feature 'Stake', and interactive sports replay content (football and cricket leagues) '3D Replay'. When
users earn BOLT tokens by participating in our interactive content format on BOLT+, they will eventually be able
to redeem these tokens for real-world items in Pegasus, such as internet access, cash packs, or other partner
promotions. BOLT has a vibrant partner ecosystem, which includes brand names such as Bytedance and
Hisense. BOLT has also embarked on pre-installation of BOLT apps onto Hisense devices across Africa and the
Middle East.
