—- Stand-out achievers in the sports business industry have today received positive news with the announcement of the hotly anticipated Sports Business Awards shortlist.
Finalists across 17 categories will remain on tenterhooks leading into the lunchtime awards ceremony on Wednesday 16th December at The Brewery in London after the traditional summer event was rescheduled in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Since 2017, the Sports Business Awards has sought to recognise the outstanding off-pitch achievements of those working behind the scenes in sport, including organisations and individuals involved in the planning, administration, marketing, design, technology and implementation side of sports.
Sports Business Awards co-founder, Simon Burton said this year’s judging panel, made of up of high profile CEOS representing a wide variety of major and minority sports, has some tough decisions to make with the shortlist showcasing the remarkable innovation and thinking within the industry.
“Like many other industries we’re working hard to pivot and react to the new normal, applying our collective knowledge and expertise to sustain our industry and take advantage of unique opportunities. This year’s shortlist gives me great comfort in the knowledge that our industry is in safe hands.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming this year’s finalists to the awards ceremony in December with cause for a great celebration of their achievements not only over the past year, but in navigating the impacts of the lockdown.”
Finalists include innovative projects across rugby, football, cricket, golf, netball, sailing, hockey, swimming, martial arts, boxing, American football, darts, horse racing, table tennis, tennis, motorsport and obstacle course racing among others.
In order to acknowledge the important work undertaken by so many sports organisations throughout the pandemic, three new categories have been launched and will be open for entries in June. They are Coronavirus; Protection, Communication and Compassion.
