Qarabag PR chief banned for life by UEFA for social media hate post
KEIR RADNEDGE REPORTS: European federation UEFA has firmed up its suspension of a Qarabag official to a life ban and asked FIFA to extend it worldwide.
Qarabağ FK communications officer Nurlan Ibrahimov called for “killing of all Armenians, young and old, without distinction” after the resurgence of violence between Azerbaijan and Arminia over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.
A protest from the Armenian football federation led the European federation to investigate.
Last month Ibrahimovic was banned by UEFA from involvement in European competition matches for breaches of regulations prohibiting racist and other discrimintary conduct and “violating the basic rules of decent conduct.”
Now the control, ethics and disciplinary panel has decided “to ban Mr Nurlan Ibrahimov, Qarabağ FK official (i.e. press officer) . . . from exercising any football-related activity for life from the date when he was provisionally banned (ie 3 November), for the violation of Articles 11 (2) (b) and 14 (1) DR; to request FIFA to extend worldwide the above-mentioned life ban; to fine Qarabağ FK €100,000.”
