FRANKFURT: Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer set a Bundesliga record on Sunday, finishing his 197th game without conceding a goal in the 4-0 Bundesliga win over relegation-bound Schalke.
This clean sheet meant Neuer overtook the previous mark set by old Bayern hero Oliver Kahn – who will become his boss as club chairman later this year.
Neuer, 34, needed 423 games to break that record, while Kahn had made 557 appearances with Karlsruhe and Bayern to set his own record.
The victory over Schalke saw top-scoring centre-forward Robert Lewandowski as the first Bundesliga player to score in 10 successive matches. Thomas Muller (two) and David Alaba scored the other goals.
