DOHA: Bayern Munich are favourites to land the world club crown for the third time after 1976 and 2001 after beating African champions Al Ahly of Egypt 2-0 in Doha, Qatar.

The European and German champions reached the FIFA Club World Cup final with two goals from man of the match Robert Lewandowski. They will face Tigres of Mexico in Thursday’s showdown.

Bayern dominated the match, registering 24 shots and controlling 68.5pc.

They opened the scoring after 17 minutes when Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry set up Lewandowski to beat keeper Mohamed Elshenawy.

Bayern sealed their victory in the 85th minute when the unmarked Lewandowski converted a Leroy Sane cross.

The Pole has scored 29 goals in 27 matches in all competitions this season.

If Bayern win the title Hansi Flick will become the first Bayern manager to win the Bundesliga, German Cup, German Super Cup, Champions League, European Super Cup and World Cup.
