KEIR RADNEDGE REPORTS:  Michel Platini has undergone further questioning in Switzerland over FIFA-linked criminal investigations.

The French former president of European federation UEFA was questioned on Monday by prosecutor Thomas Hildebrand over the infamous $2m payment he received from the world federation a decade ago at the behest of then supremo Sepp Blatter.

Now Platini has spent three hours being questioning over issues connected to a criminal investigation into secret meetings held between former Attorney General Michael Lauber and the current FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

Those meetings included one in the summer of 2015 when Infantino was general secretary of UEFA and before Platini was removed as president over the disloyal payment issue. Platini was subsequently banned from football. This wrecked his expectation of becoming FIFA president – and opened the way for Infantino to step up instead.,

Platini was interviewed as a witness by special prosecutor Stefan Keller.

Dominic Nellen, a lawyer for Platini, said: “The hearing of Michel Platini by the special prosecutor went well. My client is very happy to have been able to speak before a neutral prosecutor who knows his case and had an interest in hearing it.”

Platini has denied all wrongdoing.
