ZURICH: World football federation FIFA has appointed of Kenny Jean-Marie as chief member associations officer in succession to Véron Mosengo-Omba who has taken over as ceo of African confederation CAF.

Jean-Marie joined FIFA in 2020 as director of MA services, with responsibility for overseeing services to strengthen the development of FIFA’s 211 member associations through the Forward Programme.

He worked with Mosengo-Omba in rolling out FIFA’s ground-breaking FIFA COVID-19 Relief Plan to protect and preserve football from the consequences of the global pandemic.

A native of Guadeloupe (French West Indies), Jean-Marie is a former French high civil servant with a diverse background in terms of education (with Master’s degrees in engineering, public administration and sports governance), experience and skills.

Most recently before joining FIFA, he was chief of staff for French FA president Noël Le Graët, and director of international and institutional relations.

Earlier he served for almost 20 years within several ministerial departments (Defence, Interior, Youth & Sports), and finally as Youth & Sports Senior Political Advisor to the French Prime Minister.

A joint statement from FIFA president Gianni Infantino and secretary-general Fatma Samoura said: “We are delighted to appoint Kenny Jean-Marie as Chief Member Associations Officer.

“His experience, expertise and passion for the development of football will be of tremendous benefit to FIFA and our members worldwide as we continue to grow and strengthen the game, making football truly global.”
