KEIR RADNEDGE REPORTS: Javier Tebas, the combative and controversial head of the Spanish league, is to maintain his plain-speaking style on the executive committee of the European governing body.

Tebas is being appointed by the European Leagues association as its representative on the UEFA exco for four years in place of Lars-Crister Olsson, the chair of the Swedish League.

The change is due to be ratified next week by UEFA – a step which will bring Tebas into direct conflict on the committee with Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain, who is a delegate from the European Club Association.

Both men have clashed a number of times. In February 2019, Tebas opposed the admission of the PSG boss into the UEFA exco.

Tebas, a lawyer, complained that Al-Khelaifi’s presence on the exco represented a conflict of interests “and would violate the rules of good governance, not only because of the problem of financial fair play, but also because he is president beIN Sports, one of UEFA’s main buyers of TV rights. ”

Previously Tebas had attacked PSG for the club’s inflation-busting purchases of Neymar and Mbappé in 2017.
