MADRID: Florentino Pérez will continue as president of Real Madrid until 2025 with no challengers registered by the elections deadline.

Perez has been in command for 18 years in two separate stints during which the club extended their European champions club record to 13 trophies which ill take price of place in the new museum to feature in the reconstructed Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.

Under Perez Madrid have totalled 26 titles, only six fewer than under legendary predecessor Santiago Bernabéu.

The priority for Perez’s new reign will be economic stability after the financial crisis imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. With coincidental timing Madrid have been playing all their lockdown matches in the Valdebebas training stadium while the Estadio Bernabeu is being expanded and extended.

Madrid have been linked with a summer transfer pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland as potential superstar successor to Cristiano Ronaldo who became the club’s all-time top scorer before leaving for Juventus in 2018.
