MADRID: Lucas Hernandez, the France and Bayern Munich fullback, has been ordered to begin a prison sentence by a court in Madrid.

Ona bad day for the family his brother Theo, the Milan and France international, tested positive for Covid-19.

Last month Judge Aurora Arrebola del Valle sentenced both Lucas Hernandez and his former wife, Amelia de la Osa Lorente, to jail after a fight in the middle of a street in February 2017.

The pair were each sentenced to 31 days of community service and a six-month restraining order. However they then tried to put the clash behind them and undertook a honeymoon.

They were arrested on return to Madrid – where he played formerly for Atletico – from Miami in June and Hernandez became subject to a prosecutor’s office request for a year in prison for contempt of court.

His lawyers’ plea for the sentence to be suspended was denied because he had not undertaken the 31 days of community service.

Lawyers acting for Bayern have appealed against that sentence but Hernandez, in the meantime, must appear in court next Tuesday and choose in which prison he should serve the initial sentence.
