BARCELONA: Barcelona have hit yet more trouble after veteran striker Sergio Aguero was sidelined for at least three months after suffering chest pains in Saturday’s LaLiga match against Alaves.
The former Manchester City striker, 33, received treatment on the pitch then went direct to hospital and underwent heart tests.
A club statement said: “During the next three months, the effectiveness of treatment will be evaluated in order to determine his recovery process.”
Aguero, in an Instagram post, said he was “fine” and “very excited to face the recovery process”.
The former Manchester City striker was making only his second start for Barcelona after being injured in pre-season.
He joined the Spanish giants on a two-year deal in the summer after a 10-year spell at City, during which he became the club’s all-time leading scorer with 260 goals in 390 games.
Incident in Norway
A Norwegian championship match between Sogndal and Stjordals Blink was halted on Monday night after only 12 minutes when Sogndal’s Emil Palsson collapsed on the pitch with a cardiac arrest.
The players were sent back to the dressing room while the 28-year-old Icelander was resuscitated by heart massage before being taken to hospital for treatment and observation.
