BRUSSELS: The Belgian football federation has rejected a request from Everton to speak to national coach Roberto Martinez about their managerial vacancy.

Everton sacked Rafa Benitez in a weekend panic after a 2-1 defeat at Norwich and decided that Martinez was their preferred target to return to Goodison where he was sacked five years ago.

However the Belgian FA has reportedly insisted that Martinez would be leading them into the World Cup finals in November in Qatar.

The Belgians would not even contemplate a job-share.
