KEIR RADNEDGE REPORTS: Vero Communications, the promotional agency led by the late Mike Lee, is winding down.

Lee’s death at 61 three years ago was a significant blow for the company whose notable bidding successes included Qatar;s 2022 World Cup, Rio de Janeiro’s 2016 Olympic Games, the 2018 Pyingchang Winter Games and 2024 Paris Olympics.

Lee founded Vero after London won the right to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and rapidly gained a high and successful profile in the sports communications sphere.

However his death was followed by a crucial change in big-event bidding operations which meant the company had to amend direction.

Lee’s widow and company chair, Dame Heather Rabbatts, and directors Clair Ashley and Sujit Jasani all have continuing interests to pursue.

Ashley will continue with World Rugby, a longstanding client of Vero, while Jasani is working as a consultant for the Football Association.
