KEIR RADNEDGE REPORTS: The Football Association has announced that England will not compete against Russia at any level for the forseeable future.
A statement also condemned the “atrocities” being committed in Ukraine by the forces of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Conflict has raged in Eastern Europe since Putin ordered his troops into Ukraine on Thursday morning.
The FA said: “Out of solidarity with the Ukraine and to wholeheartedly condemn the atrocities being committed by the Russian leadership, The FA can confirm that we won’t play against Russia in any international fixtures for the foreseeable future.
“This includes any potential match at any level of senior age group or para football.”
Russia are scheduled to play at the UEFA Women’s European Championship in England in the summer. They have been drawn in a first round group with Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland.
The FA’s decision comes after Poland announced they will not play Russia in next month’s World Cup play-off even on neutral territory.
Bayern Munich’s Poland captain striker Robert Lewandowski said: “I can’t imagine playing a match with the Russian National Team in a situation when armed aggression in Ukraine continues.
“Russian footballers and fans are not responsible for this, but we can’t pretend that nothing is happening.”
