AMSTERDAM: Napoli achieved one of the most outstanding results in their European competition history by overwhelming Ajax 6-1 in Amsterdam.

Napoli only one point to secure a place in the round of 16 after a magnificent follow-up to the four goals scored against Liverpool and three at Rangers.

Giacomo Raspadori was the main man with two goals supported by strikes from Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Piotr Zielinski, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Giovanni Simeone.

Napoli could have opened the score after only three minutes when Stanislav Lobotka set up Raspadori who was narrowly off target. Ajax responded by taking the lead. Steven Bergwijn exchanged passes with Kenneth Taylor and Mohammed Kudus shot home.

The Dutch lead lasted only 10 minutes before Kvaratskhelia set up Olivera on the left and his first-time cross was headed home by Raspadori.

In the 34th minute Kvaratskhelia took up a short corner from Zielinski, switched it on to Di Lorenzo to score with Zielinski making it 3-1 just before haltime.

Kvaratskhelia and substitute Simeone concluded trhe scoring in the second galf against an Ajax team who finsihed with 10 men after a seond yellow card for Tadic with 17 minutes remaining.
