DOHA: Italian Daniele Orsato will referee the first World Cup semi-final between Argentina and Croatia. Assistants will be Ciro Carboni and Alessandro Gyallettini.

The fourth official will be Mohamed Mohammed (UAE) and the VAR referee Italian Massimiliano Irrati.

This will Orsato’s second Argentina match after their 2-0 group stage win over Mexico. He also refereed the Opening Match between hosts Qatar and Ecuador.

He has refereed Croatia three times but not at these finals. His previous matches saw Croatia win twice and lose once, by 1-0 against England in the 2020 UEFA Nations League.

The second semi-final, between France and Morocco, will be refereed by Mexico’s César Ramos.

This will be his fourth match at the finals after the group stage ties between Denmark-Tunisia (0-0) and Belgium-Morocco (0-2) then Portugal-Switzerland (6-1) in the round of 16.
