Fan ban orders down but hooligan incidents on the up, says new report
LONDON: Some 1,308 banning orders were issued to football fans across England and Wales last season.
A new report from SportingPedia reviewed incidents in 2021-22 and found that incidents were reported at more than half of all fixtures – at 1,609 of 3,019 football matches.
Although the total number of banning orders has declined from 2018-19 – the last season before the pandemic – a rise has been recorded in both football-related arrests and incidents at stadiums, according to official Home Office data.
