LONDON: Nathan Jones has become Southampton’s second sacking of the season.

Jones, with no previous Premier League experience, had been a surprise replacement for sacked Ralph Hasenhuttl three months ago.

The change has not worked. Saints are bottom after a seventh defeat in eight games on Saturday by 2-1 at home to Wolves. The winners even played 63 minutes with 10 men after the first-half expulsion of Mario Lemina.

Jones was the third Premier sacking in three weeks after Frank Lampard (Everton) and Jesse Marsch (Leeds). His bizarre comments after matches in the last two weeks suggested that he was out of his depth.
