LONDON: Marcus Rashford continues to show why the Glazer family, Manchester United’s owners, expect at least £6bn from the sale to Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, Ineos billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe or Elliott, the US hedge fund.
Rashford scored twice in a 3-0 defeat of Leicester to reach 17 goals in 18 games since the World Cup and 24 goals for the season.
Substitute Jadon Sancho scored the other goal as United edged within three points of neighbours City and five adrift of leaders Arsenal.
But spies from Barcelona, United’s Europa League playoff rivals on Thursday, will have noted the defensive gaps which Erik ten Hag’s men offered wasteful Leicester in the opening minutes.
Spurs, too
Injury-hit Tottenham returned to the top four of the Premier League with a 2-0 home London derby win over relegation-threatened West Ham.
Spurs started slowly after defeats in Premier and Champions Leagues with Heung-min Son dropped to the substitutes’ bench. They improved after halftime and were rewarded by their fullbacks: Ben Davies set up Emerson Royal to score on his 50th league appearance for Spurs.
Son immediately replaced Richarlison and converted a Harry Kane assist for Spurs’ second goal only five minutes later.
