ZURICH: Public Prosecutor’s in Zurich have dropped criminal proceedings against former FIFA president Sepp Blatter and ex-secretary-general Jerome Valcke over the FIFA Museum.

An investigation reportedly failed to confirm concerns, raised by the world football governing body itself, over improper management.

In December 2020 FIFA had registered a criminal complaint against its former president and three other people. The main subject of the complaint was the long-term property rental agreement for the FIFA Museum in central Zurich.

A statement from the public prosecutor’s office said:

After the Federal Criminal Court had clarified the local and factual jurisdiction, the Public Prosecutor’s Office III of the Canton of Zurich opened criminal proceedings against the former President and former Secretary General of Fifa and conducted extensive investigations to clarify the allegations. However, a criminally relevant misconduct in the sense of a breach of duty could not be determined, which is why the public prosecutor’s office discontinued the criminal proceedings on March 27, 2023. The corresponding hiring order has not yet come into legal force.
