COPENHAGEN: With less than a week before UEFA decides on the host for it Women’s Euro in 2025 the Nordics2025 bid has received positive support from a public survey across Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Some 69pc of the population polled across the four nations were in favour of the UEFA Euro 2025 being hosted in the Nordics.; 42pc were interested in watching their national teams live at home while 27pc were interested in watching other national teams play.

Some 21pc are interested in visiting fan zones during the event and 63pc would appreciate if supporters from other countries visited the Nordics during the Euro 2025.

The survey also showed that there is a growing interest in women’s football across the region as almost 29pc of people in the Nordics say they interested in women’s football, while 44pc express a growing interest in women’s football over the last several years.

The interest from youth is also strong, as 27pc of parents perceive their children to have women footballers as idols and favourite players. This highlights the strength of the women footballers across the Nordics, many of whom have voiced their active support of the bid.

The results give the Nordics2025 team a boost as they head to Lisbon early next week to present their ambitions to UEFA.

A Women’s Euro in the Nordics could be the biggest such tournament, with more than 800,000 tickets available and the final at Friends Arena in Stockholm – the largest stadium in the Nordic region with 50,000 spectator seats.

The survey was conducted together with HowCom, the strategy and insight agency, using the Norstat representative online panels in each country with the target group of 16-79 year olds. Data collection was done in November 2022 in Sweden and in March 2023 in Denmark, Finland and Norway.

The total number of respondents was 2440 and the results were weighted with respect to gender and age in each country separately to obtain national representative samples – and when results are referred to on a Nordic level additional weights have been added to take population sizes into account for a Nordic wide representative sample.
